Comparison between CMIP5 and CMIP6 Models over MENA Region Using Historical Simulations and Future Projections

چکیده

The study evaluated the ability of 11 global climate models latest two versions Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP5 and CMIP6) to simulate observed (1965–2005) rainfall, maximum (Tmax) minimum (Tmin) temperatures, mean eastward (uas) northward (vas) wind speed, surface pressure. It also relative uncertainty in projections variables using those CMIPs. European reanalysis (ERA5) data were used as reference evaluate performance GCMs their median multimodel ensembles (MME). revealed less bias CMIP6 than CMIP5 simulating most variables. biases Tmax, Tmin, uas, vas, pressure ?55 mm, 0.28 °C, ?0.11 ?0.25 m/s, ?0.06 ?0.038 Kpa for compared ?65 0.07 ?0.87 ?0.41 ?0.05 0.063 CMIP5. speed was more narrow showed a higher increase Tmin Tmax by 0.64 especially central region. Besides, rainfall parts MENA would increase; however, it might decrease 50 mm coastal regions. better wide range climatic studies.

Mode water ventilation and subtropical countercurrent over the North Pacific in CMIP5 simulations and future projections

[1] Seventeen coupled general circulation models from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5) are analyzed to assess the dynamics and variability of the North Pacific Subtropical Countercurrent (STCC). Consistent with observations, the STCC is anchored by mode water to the north. For the present climate, the STCC tends to be stronger in models than in observations because of t...

Using palaeo-climate comparisons to constrain future projections in CMIP5

We present a selection of methodologies for using the palaeo-climate model component of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (Phase 5) (CMIP5) to attempt to constrain future climate projections using the same models. The constraints arise from measures of skill in hindcasting palaeo-climate changes from the present over three periods: the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) (21 000 yr before presen...

Comparative assessment between historical and future trends in the daily maximum temperature parameter over selected stations of Iran

Objective of this study is to determine whether there are significant changes in maximum temperature trends between the current (1981-2010) and future (2011-2099) periods. To this end, statistical downscaling is used to project future changes in the maximum temperatures according to A2 and B2 scenarios of HADCM3 in the 7 selected stations of Iran. The possibilities of an accelerating trend are ...
